Why should I take a DNA test?
A DNA test gives you a personalized window into your health, traits, and potential. Unlike one-size-fits-all advice, it helps you understand how your body is uniquely wired—from how you respond to food, exercise, and stress, to your risk for certain conditions. Think of it as your body’s instruction manual—once you read it, you can make smarter choices for a healthier, more optimized life.
How is my DNA sample collected?
A DNA collection kit will be delivered to a location of your choosing by us or our DNA test provider.
Your DNA sample is then collected through a simple, non-invasive saliva test. Just spit into the collection tube provided in your kit, seal it, and send it back to our DNA vendor’s lab using the prepaid envelope.
No blood, no needles—just a few minutes and a bit of spit!
How long does it take to get my results?
Once your DNA sample is received at our DNA vendor’s lab, it typically takes 3 to 4 weeks to process and analyze your results. You’ll be notified via email from our DNA vendor once your personalized report is ready to view, and you can then upload that report privately into our Bio Dashboard to get deeper insights and AI advice.
Will I need to do another DNA test later?
Since your DNA doesn’t change; one good test can last you for a lifetime provided it has all the genetic traits you are looking for.
Can children or pregnant women take the test?
Yes, both children and pregnant women can safely take the DNA test. Our tests are non-invasive and only requires a simple saliva or cheek swab sample.
For children under the age of 16, we recommend parental consent and supervision during the collection process.
The test is also safe for pregnant women, though results will only reflect the mother’s DNA, not the baby’s.
How accurate are DNA tests?
Our DNA vendors use advanced genotyping and next-generation sequencing technologies that deliver over 99.9% accuracy in identifying genetic markers.
These are the same technologies used in clinical and research settings worldwide.
However, it’s important to know that while the lab results are highly accurate, interpretation can vary depending on the trait, scientific research available, and how your DNA interacts with lifestyle and environment.
We focus on traits with strong scientific backing to ensure insights are reliable, relevant, and actionable.
What’s the difference between a DNA test and a health screening?
A DNA test looks at your genetic blueprint—the traits you’re born with—to uncover your inherited predispositions (e.g. metabolism, fitness response, risk of certain conditions). It doesn’t change over time.
A health screening test checks your current health status by measuring things like blood pressure, cholesterol, sugar levels, or imaging results. These results can change depending on lifestyle, diet, or environment.
In short, both are useful—but serve different purposes.
What should I know before collecting my sample?
Don’t eat, drink, smoke, or brush your teeth 90 minutes before providing your sample for best results.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Data is stored securely by the lab. ConnectingDNA only maps necessary trait results for your
profile.
Furthermore, we use government-grade encryption, store your genetic information on secure servers, and never share your data without your explicit consent.
You’re always in control of your data, and you can choose to download, delete, or manage it anytime.
Can I get a refund after submitting my sample?
Once your sample has been submitted and processing has begun, refunds are generally not available due to the cost of lab analysis.
However, if your initial sample is found to be corrupted or unusable, we’ll provide a free replacement kit so you can resubmit a new sample at no additional cost.
How much are your DNA test kits?
Reliable DNA test kits typically range from SGD $400 to $1,300, depending on the type of DNA sequencing technology used.
